Who is responsible

What data we process

• Parent account: e-mail address, password (stored hashed), chosen name, language, optional phone number.
• Child device: the name given by the parent, a technical pairing key of the device and the type of browser/device. No e-mail address, phone number or account is requested from a child.
• Messages and photos: the content of the chat between parent and child, with timestamps and read status.
• Technical data: IP address and time of requests, only for security (such as limiting login attempts).

Why

Solely to make the chat between parent and child work and keep it secure. Data is not sold, not used for advertising and not shared with third parties, except the hosting provider that supplies the server and, if payments are enabled, the payment provider.

How long

Messages are kept until the parent clears them, removes the child or deletes the account. A parent can delete the whole account in the settings at any time; all related data is then permanently erased.

Security

All connections use HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with a strong algorithm. Pairing links work once and expire automatically.

Encryption and log

Messages and photos are end-to-end encrypted: only the devices of parent and child can read them; SafeLoop cannot. For security and abuse prevention we do keep metadata: timestamps, IP addresses, device information (browser/app) and which actions were performed (registration, login, pairing, sending a message without its content). We keep this data for [365] days and only share it when legally required, for example on a request from the police or judicial authorities.
